Fall 2015
Dear Colleague,
Happy
Fall! The foliage this year is beautiful and couldn't be more appreciated after
last winter. Autumn is one of my favorite times of the year. I anxiously await
the colorful turning of the leaves, visiting apple orchards, baking fruit
filled treats and the festivities of the upcoming holidays.
This
fall I am especially excited as I have also released the e-book version of my
book, Personal Branding and Marketing Yourself: The Three Ps Marketing
Technique as a Guide to Career Empowerment, which I published last
year. It is available on
Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Consider buying it for
yourself and/or for a friend, colleague or family even as a holiday gift. If
you have already bought a copy, I thank you deeply for your support! If you
enjoyed it, please take a moment to write a review on Amazon or B&N to
spread the word. I am so grateful for the positive encouragement I have
received as well as the opportunities that have been presented to me as a
result! This past year, my work has required me to travel more extensively as
my client base has grown on a national level. It has been an incredible journey
for which I feel very blessed and appreciative! Please see a summary of my book
below.
When We Hear the Term "Marketing," We Likely Think of Products, Services
& Commodities.
HOW
ABOUT OURSELVES?
Whether
you are seeking a new position, changing roles within an organization, or
taking charge of your career planning, marketing yourself is the best way to
seize these opportunities. Yet few of us are ready and able to talk about our
talents, accomplishments, and the value we have to offer. In this engaging,
timely, and informative book, acclaimed career and executive coach, trainer,
and consultant Rita Balian Allen makes the case for personal branding as an
essential ingredient for a successful career. For Rita and the many people who
have sought her guidance, the Three Ps Marketing Technique has been
the key:
Preparation
Identify & Define Your Brand
Packaging
Create & Build Your Brand
Presentation
Enhance & Articulate Your Brand
IT'S TIME TO FIND OUT WHAT MAKES YOU, YOU. |

Complete
with worksheets, checklists, and proven advice, Personal Branding and
Marketing Yourself is a powerful toolkit for developing the ease,
confidence, and comfort to learn about, maintain, and communicate our best
professional selves. |
My
book is featured in
Leadership and Management Books, the unrivaled specialist
source of leadership & management intelligence and inspiration. Check them
out and consider subscribing to have access to a wealth of leadership writings
and resources. In addition, I write a monthly career management column for
L&MB on a variety of leadership topics. This month's topic is "5 Steps
for Developing Mentor Relationships", which can be found on their website
as well as
my
own, along with all my past months columns.
As
we approach the end of another year, it's a good time for organizations to
assess their investment in staff, management and leadership development
opportunities for the purpose of strengthening and retaining internal talent as
well as to enhance business performance. Making development a priority and a
strategic imperative for growth is a key differentiator for success. It is also
a good time for all of us to assess our own personal development and set goals
for the coming year. Goal setting has become a ritual that I exercise every
December on both a personal and professional basis. Planning for the upcoming
year not only empowers us to accomplish our goals but makes us more accountable
to do so effectively.
I
have seen increased demand from my clients in all levels of development from
professional and career development initiatives to management and leadership
development programs. There is also an ongoing demand for executive coaching,
career coaching and team coaching.
One
specific area of development for which there is growing need and demand is for
women in leadership. Not only are there more women in the workforce than ever
before, there are more women in positions of leadership as well as more women
with advanced degrees. I have conducted numerous presentations and delivered
many training programs for a variety of women's organizations as well as for my
clients. This ongoing theme indicates there is a ferocious need for more!
Along
these lines and in response to this demand, I am very excited to say that I
will be partnering with one of my colleagues, Jodi Detjen, Professor of
Management at Suffolk University and Co-Author of The Orange Line: A Woman's
Guide to Integrating Career, Family and Life to introduce the
Women in Leadership Program. This program offers a suite of women's
leadership master classes that uniquely address the underlying barriers women
face as they build a successful career. It includes a series of workshops to
help develop more confident leaders, key influencers, and to help those who
manage women as well as the organization.
